>Mono to stereo

-

Making mono signals sound stereo is something that can be achieved using various artificial techniques often incorporating tiny delays. Another approach is to apply different comb filtering to each channel and we can do this quite easily using Carve EQ. To assist us there is a handy preset called Stereo Comb. You can try this effect by loading the Synth Bass tutorial file, which is mono. The initial effect is quite strong and sounds wide but quite odd in mono. Reduce the Mix level (here we’ve gone for 40%) to get some width and retain better mono compatibility.
