RME celebrate 25 with new interface

RME are celebrating 25 years in the business, but appear to have missed a bit of a trick when it comes to their birthday release. On this so special of silver anniversaries they have announced the Fireface UCX II which is a compact half-rack audio interface, but with a spec that goes well beyond its diminutive size. It’s described as “a new standard in the field of professional audio interface solutions” and, while just about every audio interface ever released is described in almost identical words, the UCX II at least backs it up with specs. We like specs. So we get highperformance mic inputs, a built-in parametric EQ, and oodles of connectivity including MIDI I/O, ADAT I/O, AES/EBU and SPDIF I/O, USB 2.0, ABC and 123. The trick that RME have missed? Well, the unit boasts 20 ins and outs. On their 25th birthday? Come on, 25 ins and outs surely! Come to us in five years time RME and we’ll give you some PR advice.
