Horns have been a bedrock of boom bap beatmaking since Pete Rock, the Golden Age, and well before. They’ve always sounded best, though, when sampled straight from wax, plucked from the context of a stacked funk groove; standalone loops, or watery synth replays always lack impact and charm.
