Gone but not forgotten

-

Just when you thought every 80s product had been emulated… What next? A Rubik’s Cube or Walls Viennetta? Anyway, Martinic’s AX73 is based on a “forgotten” 1980s analogue synth by Akai, not perhaps the first choice of a synth to emulate. “There had to be a reason for it being forgotten,” you might cynically say, but the AX73 was ahead of its time, landing just when digital took over. Martinic “has taken what was great about the original synth, and bolstered it with a wealth of features and controls,” they say. It’s $119 regularly, though there’s a 50% intro price if you’re quick sharp.
