FATHOM CM 2

-

Our free plugin this issue is a major update to one of Computer Music’s most favourite and flexible synths…

It’s been over two years since we first gave away Seaweed Audio’s Fathom CM, and in that time it has become a firm favourite among our readers. That’s simply because, like we said at the time, this is “the most sonically versatile and powerful Computer

Music synthesiser giveaway ever!”

Fathom CM is a modular synth, which means that you can select individual oscillators, filters, effects and modulators, and then patch them together in whatever configuration you like.

The synth features seven oscillator types, including VA, FM, additive, wave-drawing and wavetable options. There are 30 filter types, nine effects – including reverb, chorus, delay and phaser – and many modulation options including LFOs, customisable envelopes, step sequencing and shapable LFOs.

Fathom CM is capable of generating any sound you can imagine and to demo this, Seaweed Audio have thrown in a whole load of new sound banks including Trance Warehouse and Masters of Ambience worth over $60!

There are two more synths in the Fathom universe: Pro and the top-line Vector. The allnew Fathom CM2 has most of the features of Pro (bar a Variable Filter category and WAV file import/export). It also adds a Fractal Reverb, 16 Channel Digital Delay, different UI designs and you can even cheat and add the Metamorphic Oscillator found in Vector – see p85!

You can upgrade to Fathom Pro for just $25 and Vector for $125. There’s an interview with Everett Sellner from Seaweed Audio on p8. fathomsynth.com/buy
