Models and presets

-

Paragon’s flexible architecture reduces the need for a large impulse response library and to that end it comes with 19 individual impulse responses (Reverb Models). This may seem a bit limited, but the models cover plenty of ground. Types include traditional spaces such as Church, Theatre and Chamber, as well as more unusual spaces such as Cave Mouth, Stairwell and Summer Forest. You can change the Reverb Model in the IR page and when you do this, all other settings for the preset remain the same, which is handy.

Having said that, the Reverb Time readout on the Main tab will update to reflect the newly loaded Reverb Model.

One thing you can’t do is import your own impulses, which although understandable given the re-synthesis system used, is also a little on the disappointing side.

Paragon ST has around 80 presets. Many of these quite clearly indicate via their preset names the source Reverb Model. So, you’ll find various sizes of church, hall and chamber for example. But there are plenty of other presets that are less obvious. And the beauty of Paragon ST is that presets can be created from Reverb Models that may seem unsuitable – Tight Drum Ambience, for example, uses the Large Theatre model.
