Plugin wonders Baby Audio are giving you their very cool I Heart NY for free! It’s full of bite… if you spank it!
It feels like Baby Audio have come from nowhere to lead the field in plugin development. They have titles such as the incredible (10/10 scoring) Spaced Out reverbs (that reimagines the Space Echo), Parallel Aggressor (the definitive punch tool) and the all-new Taip which was announced last month. For this giveaway, we have the mighty I Heart NY parallel compressor which is simple but highly effective, recreating as it does the sound of New York compression with a very simple workflow.
New York or parallel compression was made famous in that city in the 1990s and basically allows you to duplicate your audio to another bus, and as Baby Audio say, “crush it to death with expensive hardware, then blend it in with your dry track for a sound that is both powerful and dynamic”. We literally couldn’t have put that any better ourselves.
I Heart NY features all of the compression gubbins and parallel signal splitting within the plugin itself, making both signal and workflow very easy to get your head around. It might be a simple interface, but push that Spank knob up and you will soon be adding bite to your drums and bass especially, although most music tracks will benefit from a twist of the knob. You can even put the compressor in solo mode to use as a normal insert compressor.
