No sooner had we awarded Baby Audio’s Spaced Out plugin Effect Of The Year – about an hour ago in our particular time thread – Baby Audio announced that you can get a bit of it, for free! The company’s new free plugin is called Magic Dice and is a Random Atmosphere Generator available in VST, VST3, AU and AAX formats with full Mac M1 compatibility. Magic Dice is a spiritual successor to the so far 100,000 downloaded Magic Switch. It basically shoves the algorithms – “the entire sonic palette”, in fact – that you get in Spaced Out into a simple, one-button random generator. You get all the power of Spaced Out’s reverby, modulating sound, just with no control over it. Keep rolling it until you get something you like and keep it; it couldn’t be simpler.

“Magic Dice generates entirely new wet-fx textures with every click,” Baby say. “It will generate anything from hazy space echoes over lush reverbs to alien-sounding modulation effects. Sometimes all at once!”
