GOING 90S AND EDM

-

By design, our pumping synth patch is relatively flat-sounding, but our intention is to provide a helpful spring-board, where you can elaborate and extend this patch for your own musical styles. A good example might be for use in a dance or EDM track, which would benefit from thicker oscillators. If you look at Osc 1 and 2, you will see four numbers, in the top left of each section. This relates to waveform aliasing, and is an easy way to thicken the overall oscillator texture. Try selecting 4, in both oscillator sections, which will also need to be accompanied by a subtle detune, via the pot with the same name, also in each Oscillator section. You’ll get that Euro sound very quickly! Just add a bright back-end reverb from your DAW, and you’ll be production ready.

As we previously mentioned, you can also try different filters. These filters are an important part of the Zebra CM’s sound, and can really define your patch, allowing you to move from a vintage colour, to something highly contemporary. Try them all, but we also like the curious nature of the BR Notch filter and the crunchiness of the LP 6dB. Where possible, you can also increase the Overdrive; it’s not available on all filter types, but you can always add this within your DAW.
