In what can only be described as a great month for headphone news — or a terrible one for any other news, you decide — we have some more traditional wired headphones now. Austrian Audio has added to their Hi-X6 headphone range with the Hi-X60. These are closed-back reference headphones designed for recording, FOH, mixing and mastering. Not to be outdone by AIAIAI’s W+ Link technology above, these phones feature Hi-Xcursion technology which gives them an improved sound and won us over with the company’s Hi-X15 which we reviewed a few months back.

However the Hi-X60s also feature a closed back design which is great for isolation for mixing and in loud, live arenas and “high passive-noise suppression ensures an optimum signal-to-noise ratio creating an accurate and hearing-friendly sonic environment”. The price, however, does consequently move up a notch to £319.
