EastWest go off world for their new forbidden synth

-

Hollywood sound experts EastWest have gone pretty much as far away from LA as you can get (if you invent a spaceship) with their new synth, Forbidden Planet. We already love the name and the fact that it is a ‘Hybrid Synth Odyssey’ and it even looks pretty cool too.

Forbidden Planet is based on samples rather than oscillators but East West seem to have thrown everything at it so there’s a heck of a lot you can do with its core sounds. You get 600 “expertly crafted morphing synths” that include Arpeggiator, Bass, Drones, FX, Leads, Pads, and Poly Synths. Then you morph between layers of sounds that can include everything from acoustic instruments to Foley sounds.

Forbidden Planet also includes “insane filter modulation” and a dual arpeggio section and is ideal for everything from creative EDM to film soundtracks (of course). You can get it as part of EastWest’s subscription service, ComposerCloud+, or as a one-off payment of $299 if you’re old school like us. We’d like a cardboard box too. And a floppy disk or two while you’re at it.
