Celebrate 30 years of Novation with free classic sounds

PLUS: Enter to win a whole studio’s worth of Novation instruments

-

Novation first arrived on the scene in 1992 (coincidentally at almost the exact same time as issue 1 of our older sister mag Future Music) and over the past 30 years, the British brand has been responsible for some of the most memorable instruments and controllers of our lifetime.

Originally launched as Novation Electronic Music Systems, the company’s debut product was the MM-10, a compact MIDI keyboard designed to control Yamaha’s QY10 synth. Novation’s first icon, however, arrived in 1993 in the form of the

Bass Station – a wonderfully raw and meaty analogue synth capable of thick leads and killer acid basslines.

Novation synths have covered a lot of bases over the past three decades. From the shape-shifting digital tones of the Nova series to the thick, hybrid sounds of Peak and Summit, through to the brilliantly immediate on-the-go creativity of the Circuit range. Equally influential though, are Novation’s Launch controllers. The original Launchpad helped to unlock the performance potential of Ableton Live’s cliplaunching workflow, and instigated a whole way for artists to approach live performances. In the years since, the range has grown to encompass standalone sequencers, compact controllers and pretty much everything in between.

To celebrate this landmark anniversary, Novation are bringing together their community of artists and users to celebrate the legacy of these classic instruments. Over the course of the coming months, Novation will be taking users behind the scenes of some of their most notable users, and bringing owners

of the company’s gear a host of inspirational sounds through curated packs of presets and samples. And it’s not only current users who can get in on the celebrations though.

Get a taste of Novation’s history and capture the perfect throwback sound with the Legacy Sample Pack, stuffed with samples from some of Novation’s most iconic products. You can also add a range of moods and textures from the Bass Station, K-Station, AFX Mode, Peak, Summit, and plenty more classic Novation instruments besides.
