SNOW MAKERS

Since 2004, the Snowy Hydro scheme has been ‘ cloudseeding’ to increase precipitation and refill reservoirs faster. In the right conditions, aeroplanes release tiny particles of silver iodide into the atmosphere. These particles, with a similar crystal structure to ice, cause moisture in the air to freeze around them, making snow.
