Two species to watch out for:
1. Australian laced fritillary
Argynnis hyperbius inconstans
Possibly Australia’s first butterfly extinction, with a range thought to be in the coastal strip from Gympie (Qld) to Port Macquarie (NSW). A large orange butterfly with a wingspan of about 60mm, it’s been seen only once since 2002.
2. Northern ant-blue
Acrodipsas decima
A tiny grey butterfly with a wingspan of 20mm, known only from a single hilltop on a property three hours’ drive south of Darwin.
