Director of Sydney Observator­y Henry C. Russell attends the first Internatio­nal Astrophoto­graphic Congress in Paris on the 16th April. An ambitious project is launched to map the entire celestial sphere. Sydney and Melbourne observator­ies invited to take part.

AUSTRALIA’S FIRST ELECTRIC STREET LIGHT (TAMWORTH)

THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER PUBLISHED

Constructi­on of the “star camera” at Sydney Observator­y is completed. Its technology is at the forefront of celestial photograph­y.

The first glass plate is measured at Sydney Observator­y.
