Staff writer Lauren Fuge likes few things more than striding off to distant horizons, so the chance to go to the Flinders Ranges (see “Animal? Vegetable? Now Mineral”, page 56) and talk to scientists about Ediacaran fossils was an easy yes. Not just our digital editor; photographer Ian Connellan – that’s him (left) chasing pelicans near home in Adelaide – went along to shoot the story and managed to find a rare slab of sandstone (below) without an Ediacaran: there’s your Kodachrome moment.
