HOME, HOME ON LAGRANGE

Like its predecessor, the Gaia Space Telescope, JWST is in a controlled orbit around the L2 Lagrange point – one of five such points where the competing gravitational pull of Earth and the Sun hold a satellite relatively stable. It’s positioned approximately 1.5 million kilometres beyond Earth’s solar orbit.
