Submission to NSW Floodplain Harvesting Inquiry

-

The Victorian Government confirmed that it would make a submission to the New South Wales upper house Inquiry into Floodplain Harvesting, when I raised the issue in parliament.

Floodplain harvesters in the northern basin are depleting the Darling River leaving Victoria and southern New South Wales to sacrifice water from the Murray River to provide South Australia with its allocation.

A failure of flows from the Darling River in any year directly affects the allocations on which the Murray River irrigators depend, and I encourage all interested parties to lodge a submission by the end of the month. I will be.
