COASTAL CHARM
When seasoned home builders David Gleeson and Leah Atkins start a new project, they look to the environment for inspiration. In the case of this four-bedroom new-build, it was the stunning Mollymook Beach on the NSW south coast, and the rich heritage of the surrounding Milton area that provided the backdrop. The combination resulted in a home with two bathrooms that capture the best of both — a sophisticated coastal interior peppered with salvaged finds collected by Leah over the years. The rooms are also defined by pieces that have been cleverly reinvented by David, a builder. The ensuite has character in spades, with the addition of David’s wall-mounted cupboard made from old doors and a custom vanity bench (which surrounds Leah’s vintage enamel baby’s bath sourced from The Society Inc). Meanwhile, the main bathroom, with its luxurious cast iron tub, features some of Leah’s favourite materials. “It’s a beautiful spacious area that mixes my love of rustic timber and concrete,” Leah explains.
