LAZY MORNINGS

-

Bedrooms are made for rest and relaxation, and creating a space that entices us to bed for much-needed sleep is important. All the elements need to be there, including a comfortable bed, beautiful bed linen and good lighting. If a bedroom has a nice space to look out on when you first wake up, it starts the day on a good note — that was part of the brief for architect Eva-marie Prineas, who worked on this beach-side home. The owners wanted to make the balcony an extension of the room so Eva-marie built a deck over existing tiles to sit flush with the door threshold, creating a seamless transition. A planter was also built on the inside of the balustrade to give the room a sense of privacy, conceal lighting and incorporate nature into the room. “I like how the lightness and simplicity of the room draws in the greenery,” says Eva-marie.
