SEABIRD

COASTERS RETREAT, NSW

-

This inviting hideaway is ideal for those looking for some escape-the-city serenity. Located at Coasters Retreat, surrounded by national parkland, part of Seabird’s appeal is its remote setting — there is no car access, a water taxi can drop you at the ferry, or you can catch the local ferry, which leaves from Palm Beach, one hour’s drive north of Sydney. The house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms (it takes a maximum of eight guests) and is equipped with paddleboards and kayaks for summer days, and board games and a fireplace for cooler nights. You’ll need to come prepared with food and whatever supplies you’ll need for your stay as there are no shops in the area. Seabird is a spot to escape to, relax and enjoy your surrounds, either with family or a group of friends. “You’ll feel like you’re a million miles away,” says owner Chris Searl. You won’t want to leave the cosy cabin, but if you fancy an outing, you’re only a boat ride away from The Newport hotel or consider the walk to Barrenjoey Lighthouse and then lunch at The Boathouse Palm Beach. $450 per night, minimum two-night stay.
