Country Style

BRIDGET MCINTYRE

-

TELEVISION PRESENTER AND JOURNALIST, 43 With a new TV project in the works, it’s exciting times for Bridget, former host of Postcards on Channel 9, who loves nothing more than getting out of Melbourne and spending time with her family at Tarnpirr Farm in north-east Victoria. What do you love about getting away to the country? When I was a child I spent most weekends and holidays on our family farms, horseriding, pony club, cattle, sheep work and so on. I guess it’s part of who I am and what makes me happy. I now get to do all of that with my own children. It’s special to be able to take our three boys away from the rat-race of city life, get them off devices, have a break from scheduled activities and let them roam free in the country. It’s the greatest gift we can give them. How would you describe your style? I have a pretty classic style. I don’t really follow trends or fads so much. But fashion is one of my great loves. And my wardrobe will attest to that! What are your style essentials when at the farm? I live in my Ariat long riding boots — they’re comfortable and I can ride my horse, Alma, in them. In summer I still wear boots in case of snakes, but short R.M. Williams. I have a few Akubras but my navy one is my current favourite. What are your favourite clothing labels? Scanlan Theodore: I have pieces dating back to their very early days, classic pieces that never date. Other Aussie designers I like are Camilla and Marc and Viktoria & Woods, their Commissionaire coat is my favourite. Internationally I adore Burberry, Petar Petrov, Proenza Schouler and Inès & Maréchal. Do you have any favourite accessories? My Louis Vuitton ‘Neverfull’ bag is my number–one accessory. I’m a scarf addict and can’t go past a Burberry cashmere scarf or a silk Hermès, and I have a small collection of Thierry Lasry sunglasses. What are your hair and beauty essentials? I use Shu Uemura Art of Hair Urban Moisture hair mask, it’s the best, and GHD hair straighteners. I’ve always used MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation, but my number one make-up product is Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat. I also love Byredo Flowerhead perfume from Mecca. What’s your best piece of style advice? Invest in beautiful pieces that you’ll wear and keep forever — things you really love. I call them my ‘forever’ pieces. My husband says my wardrobe is my worst investment by far, as its outlay is big but it pays a zero dividend! Follow @tarnpirr_farm on Instagram
