Pulled straight from the paddock, a Shirlee Downs ewe beat an impressive field of Prime SAMM rivals to become grand champion.

The ewe, previously the interbreed champion at the Perth Royal Show, stood out in the ring, according to judge Warren Garlick.

Mr Garlick said the ewe had an impressive fleece and carcase, and superior structure.

Stud co-principal Chris Squiers said the ewe had been a champion from the first day he saw her.

“She not only exhibits excellent structure and show but also has a high topline and impressive feet,” he said.

“We’ll be taking her to compete at the Royal Show again.”
