Age and length was the call of the day for the judge awarding Kaya stud the grand champion sash for its mature and classy Dorper ram.
Throughout the classes, the “very well put together” ram outshone the competition, with judge Sandy Forbes praising the exhibit for its meaty hindquarter.
Ms Forbes took her time to work through the classes and to select the winning ram.
“This beautiful Dorper ram is an absolute credit to the owner, who must be commended for the work they have put in to present such structurally correct sheep with meat and muscle in all of the right places,” she said.
Kaya stud manager Wicus Du Plessis said the embryo transfer ram had been a constant success for the stud.
