Thieves tar­get farms for guns, jew­els, cars, sheep

Farm­ers in the Great South­ern and South West have been tar­geted by thieves who got away with loaded ri­fles, jew­ellery and two ve­hi­cles.

The prop­er­ties in Cor­ri­gin, Darkan, Bod­ding­ton, Dwellingup and Don­ny­brook were hit last Wed­nes­day and Thurs­day.

Po­lice are ap­peal­ing for help to find a group of men be­lieved to be in­volved in the bur­glar­ies.

Among items stolen were two ri­fles and an air ri­fle, jew­ellery and two ve­hi­cles.

Po­lice have since re­cov­ered the ve­hi­cles.

The men po­lice are look­ing for are de­scribed as dark­skinned, aged in their early 20s and were driv­ing a white sedan.

Mem­bers of the pub­lic are warned not to ap­proach the men. They should call po­lice im­me­di­ately on 131 444.

Au­thor­i­ties in the Great South­ern have also been grap­pling with a spate of sheep thefts in the past few months.

An es­ti­mated $60,000 worth of sheep were stolen from a Gnowangerup stud ear­lier this month.

About 175 Merino sheep worth more than $30,000 were also stolen from a Pin­gelly farm in Fe­bru­ary.
