Just over 880 head of cat­tle were yarded on Tues­day at Boy­anup sa­le­yards, with an in­crease of newsea­son veal­ers recorded.

A large con­tin­gent of buy­ers came to hand, with heavy (350kg­plus) steer veal­ers up 8¢ to 10¢/kg on the pre­vi­ous week’s val­ues, to sell for 312¢ to 318¢/kg.

Vealer heifer prices re­mained equal to the pre­vi­ous week, with those 280-350kg sell­ing for 265¢ to 290¢/kg and those un­der 280kg for 195¢ to 270¢/kg.

With the added com­pe­ti­tion from live ex­porters op­er­at­ing in the mar­ket, beef steers (500-600kg) im­proved in val­ues of 8¢ to 10¢/kg, to sell for 278¢ to 296¢/kg.

Heavy beef cows also im­proved slightly, at 2¢ to 3¢/kg, to sell for 182¢ to 207¢/kg, while heavy bulls re­main­ing equal in price to the pre­vi­ous week, sell­ing for 196¢/kg.
