Boyanup sale report
Boyanup saleyards took in 942 cattle offered by liveweight and 728 head offered by appraisal on Tuesday, in a yarding that was 500 head up on the previous sale.
The penning overall was of very good quality. The liveweight section slightly eased on beef breds, with the exception of weaner heifers that were up by 5¢/kg, as were Friesians feeder steers.
The beef-bred weaner steers sold for 250¢ to 328¢/kg, to average 306¢/ kg, to be 9¢/kg easier.
The beef-bred weaner heifers sold for 180¢ to 294¢/kg, to average 264¢/kg, up 5¢/kg. This set a benchmark for the start of the weaner sales programme that commences next week and extends to February 2019.
The beef-bred yearling steers sold from 202¢ to 312¢/kg to average 268¢/kg, down 10¢/kg, with the beef-bred yearling heifers selling for 125¢ to 285¢/kg, to average 229¢/ kg, down 50¢/kg.
Friesian feeder steers sold for 150¢ to 226¢/kg, to average 211¢/kg, up 5¢/kg. The second part of the sale included 300 Friesian lightweight steers in score 2 condition.
