Muchea sale report
There were 2,000 head of liveweight cattle penned on Monday, up 600 head, in time with the flush of the selling season.
Demand eased on local vealer and yearling cattle, down by 10¢ to 20¢, with pastoral types in the same categories down 20¢ to 40¢/kg.
Heavy cattle enjoyed stronger demand with local grown steers and grown heifers up 10¢, and cows up 5¢ to 10¢/kg.
Live export buyers were keen to fill orders with their purchases from 15¢ up for medium weight bulls and 50¢/kg dearer for better light weights.
In the local section of the yarding the vealer steers sold from 200¢ to 380¢, down 10¢/kg.
Vealer heifers sold at 220¢ to 282¢, down 20¢/kg.
Prime yearling steers were down 10¢ at 220 to 310¢/kg.
Grain assisted yearling heifers sold at 250¢ to 300¢, also down 10¢/kg. The grown heifers gained 10c selling at 258¢ to 264¢/kg.
Grown steers sold at 228¢ to 308¢, also up 10¢/kg.
Very light weight cows, including pastorals, sold at mainly 172¢/kg to feeders firm.
The 2 score medium weights sold from 160¢ to 170¢, up 5¢, with the prime lines making from 180¢ to 228, up 10¢/kg.
Best light weight bulls, including pastorals, to live export sold at 340¢ to 360¢, up 50¢/kg.
Medium weights to live export sold from 200¢ to 258¢, up 15¢, with heavy weights to processors at 170¢ to 214¢, down 7¢/kg.
In the pastoral section light vealer heifers sold from 141¢ to 152¢, down 20¢/kg. Light weight yearling heifers sold from 110¢ to 172¢, down 40¢, and medium weights sold from 110¢ to 210¢, down 40¢/kg.
