Mt Barker sale re­port

Num­bers were up for a to­tal yard­ing of 2403 mainly good qual­ity calves at Mt Barker last Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 13.

Steer calves eased 20¢ on the heav­ier weights, as feed lot buy­ers filled quo­tas, while light weight calves eased 6¢ with good de­mand from re-stock­ers sell­ing to a top of 326¢/kg.

Heifers had mixed re­sults, with re-stocker buy­ers claim­ing well bred light weight lines and feeder buy­ers easing on price for the heav­ier lines.

The ex­tra heavy over 380kg steer calves sold from 240¢ to 294¢ to av­er­age 269¢, while heifers made from 220¢ to 250¢/kg.

Steer calves weigh­ing 330-380kg sold from 255¢ to 302¢, while heifers made from 216¢ to 302¢/kg.

The 280-330kg cat­e­gory saw steers sell from 242¢ to 320¢, while heifers made from 222¢ to 290c/kg.

Light weights un­der 280kg sold from 260 ¢ to 326¢, av­er­ag­ing 302¢ for steers and from 230 ¢c to 288¢/kg for heifers. Bull calves un­der 450kg sold to live ex­port sold from 260 ¢ to 275¢/kg.

Mt Barker Re­gional Sa­le­yards will hold its fi­nal sale of the year on De­cem­ber 20 be­fore re­sum­ing on Jan­uary 3 and 4.
