Mt Barker sale report
Numbers were up for a total yarding of 2403 mainly good quality calves at Mt Barker last Thursday, December 13.
Steer calves eased 20¢ on the heavier weights, as feed lot buyers filled quotas, while light weight calves eased 6¢ with good demand from re-stockers selling to a top of 326¢/kg.
Heifers had mixed results, with re-stocker buyers claiming well bred light weight lines and feeder buyers easing on price for the heavier lines.
The extra heavy over 380kg steer calves sold from 240¢ to 294¢ to average 269¢, while heifers made from 220¢ to 250¢/kg.
Steer calves weighing 330-380kg sold from 255¢ to 302¢, while heifers made from 216¢ to 302¢/kg.
The 280-330kg category saw steers sell from 242¢ to 320¢, while heifers made from 222¢ to 290c/kg.
Light weights under 280kg sold from 260 ¢ to 326¢, averaging 302¢ for steers and from 230 ¢c to 288¢/kg for heifers. Bull calves under 450kg sold to live export sold from 260 ¢ to 275¢/kg.
Mt Barker Regional Saleyards will hold its final sale of the year on December 20 before resuming on January 3 and 4.
