Isle of Wight Festival
Newport, Isle of Wight, 8-11 June 2017 The UK festival scene has its roots in this ever-popular event and this year there are plenty of top billing stars to come and see, including Fleetwood Mac, The Prodigy, The Black Keys and Pharrell Williams. isleofwightfestival.com
Glastonbury Festival
Pilton, Somerset, 21-25 Jun 2017 Glastonbury hardly needs any introduction, and although tickets are all sold out way in advance, we couldn’t not include it in our list! This year Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran are all playing, but of course there’s so much more to enjoy, from circus and theatre shows to food stalls and plenty of entertainment for families and children. www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk
Latitude Festival
Henham Park, Southward, 13-16 Jul 2017 Now in its 11th year, Latitude Festival returns to Henham Park, Suffolk, in 2017 for the biggest offering of music, theatre, dance, film, cabaret and literature. There’s a lot put on for families and kids but the music side of things is still very strong, with Mumford & Sons set to headline. www.latitudefestival.com
Camp Bestival
Lulworth Castle, Dorset, 27-30 Jul 2017 A family-friendly version of Bestival, this fun fiesta also includes fancy dress and many great headliners – this year promises Madness, Mark Ronson and All Saints, to name just a few. www.campbestival.net
Edinburgh International Festival
Edinburgh, 4-28 August 2017 Edinburgh International Festival takes place over three weeks in August, showcasing top music performers, particularly classical musicians, as well as theatre, opera and dance from around the world. Another ten festivals, including the Fringe, take place at the same time. www.eif.co.uk
Boardmasters
Fistral Beach & Watergate Bay, Newquay, 9-13 August 2017 Jamiroquai is coming to this surf and music festival, which has a bit of skateboarding thrown in too. You can watch pro surfing from the beach and enjoy plenty of live music as well – what’s not to like? www.boardmasters.co.uk
Green Man Festival
Brecon Beacons, Wales, 17-20 Aug 2017 Set against the stunning backdrop of the Breacon Beacons, this event has evolved into a 20,000 capacity four-day festival, focusing on alternative, indie, rock, folk, dance and Americana music, as well as literature, film, comedy, theatre and poetry events. PJ Harvey, Julian Cope and Ryan Adams are just a few of the acts set to appear this year. www.greenman.net
Reading Festival
Richfield Avenue, 25-27 Aug 2017 Taking place over the bank holiday weekend, Reading is famed for putting on a great line-up of well-known indie acts, metal groups, dance, hip hop and alternative pop bands. This year sees Eminem, Muse and Kasabian headline. www.readingfestival.com
Bestival
Lulworth Castle, Dorset, 7-10 Sep 2017 For the first year, this ‘boutique’ non-corporate festival comes to Lulworth having enjoyed enormous popularity in pervious years on the Isle of Wight. Famed for fancy dress, poetry, theatre, comedy and much more, the Pet Shop Boys are headlining this year! www.bestival.net
