My hoop’s new home

Cross Stitcher - - Dog Cards - Evelyn Selby, Portsmouth

Hello CrossStitcher! I thought you might like to see my latest project. After saving the pennies for a very long time, I have finally been able to buy my first home! It’s very exciting but now for the decorating which must be done on a budget. As soon as I saw this project in the February issue, I knew it would be the perfect thing to brighten up my home.

I absolutely love all of the patterns you feature by Emma Congdon as I prefer bold designs with minimal shading and as little fiddly backstitch as I can get away with! I decided to work on black fabric instead of yellow to make the colours really stand out and I hope that you (and Emma) don’t mind that I changed the centre word from ‘love’ to ‘home’.

I don’t have any fancy computer software so with pencil and graph paper I set about working out how to make it fit. It wasn’t easy but I’m really pleased with the final result.

The finished hoop is now hanging in pride of place in my living room where all visitors can see it. I get so many compliments and I love being able to tell people that I made it. Keep up the great work

CrossStitcher. I’m already on the look out for my next project. Maybe for my bedroom...
