Three designers are challenged to create a Christmas card
WMARIA DIAZ… POLAR BEAR
elcome to this month’s challenge! There’s just a few days until December 25th so we asked our three designers to put their thinking caps on and come up with an amazing Christmas card featuring a special Believe charm. Besides the materials given to them on the left, they were allowed a mystery item of their own choice. Take a look at their festive results below – we’ve provided a chart for each so you can stitch your favourite! We hope this will inspire you to join in too – turn the page to see what our challenge will be for March – we’ve listed everything you need to take part. I didn’t want a traditional Christmas scene. I thought that a polar bear would be just right, especially with the cute ‘Believe’ charm. Not too Christmassy, but by adding a thick colourful scarf and giving him baubles to hold, one made from a button, I think it really gives you a seasonal feel.”
DURENE JONES… CHRISTMAS TREES
The charm was so lovely that I didn’t want to take emphasis away from it, so I decided to use that as my starting point and build the rest of the design around it. This is why I decided to choose silver sequins for my mystery item, so they blended in with the Believe’ charm and also the rest of the design. They add an extra bit of sparkle for Christmas without being over the top, and the silver colour adds to the modern feel I was trying to achieve.”
FIONA CROUCH… CHRISTMAS HOUSE
This card should be fun and fast to stitch. I wanted to do a modern take on traditional festive designs and this cheerful house seemed just the thing. I used bright red seed beads on the tree as my mystery item.”
