Our Summer Stitching Inspiration
As we celebrate the arrival of summer, we asked some stitching friends what they’re most excited about and their trend predictions for summer 2021…
Summer 2021 means a lot of exciting prospects for every stitcher, from meeting up with friends again to being able to shop for new stash. From staycation stitching to the best inspiration for designs – we chatted to four friends from the stitching industry about what they’re looking forward to and their top summer stitching tips…
What stitching trends do you see coming up in Summer 2021?
There has been such an increase in people taking up crafts during the pandemic, particularly needlecraft which as we all know is great mindfulness practice, hopefully this trend will continue. It’s been amazing to see people finding joy in simple things like cross stitch.
I think that this summer we will see more modern and alternative designs as more people start stitching and designing and discovering the versatility of the medium. I definitely see a rise in activism and people’s values being injected into the craft.
What’s your favourite summery stitching kit that you stock?
I don’t believe there are certain kits for certain seasons (apart from Christmas kits, of course!), for me, colour is for all year round, not just for summer. Summer is just a li le bit more inspiring and uplifting. This is definitely shown in my kits and designs.
My ‘Shine On’ kits are one of my latest launches. Available as regular Stitchsperation mini kits with brightly coloured, hand-painted fabric or as a ‘fully stitched’ kit in three colourways.
If you get the chance to travel this summer, which mini stitching project would you want to take with you?
I’m always stitching up new designs before I release them so I’ll definitely have a loaded WIP bag wherever I go this summer, even if it is just to my own garden!
I’m trying to add to my mini kit selection this year so I’ll definitely be stitching up new smaller designs to add to the collection.
What are you looking forward to most about this summer?
Stitching in the garden in the warm evenings until it’s too dark to see what I’m doing… and then carrying on a li le bit more just because
I don’t want to stop! Crafternoons with friends, catching up after a year of not seeing anyone and heading out to find some bright street art to photograph my kits in front of!
