This is a big year for river cruising with the launch of eight new ships. Amawaterways, partner of APT in Australia, will launch the 158-passenger AmaLea, a luxury ship with twin balconies on some suites. It has a heated pool with a swim-up bar and will cruise the Danube from Amsterdam, Prague and Budapest. Viking River Cruises will launch the 52-guest Viking Ra on Egypt’s River Nile in March. Itineraries on the all-suite vessel for 2018 are already sold out. In Asia, Avalon Waterways will launch the 36-guest Avalon Saigon to cruise the Mekong between Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and Siem Reap in Cambodia. Crystal Cruises will add two more vessels to its European river fleet, Crystal Ravel and Crystal Debussy.
