PRINCESS Cruises has ex­panded its Across the Ditch Pro­gram for the 2018/19 sum­mer cruise sea­son by launch­ing two over­land ex­cur­sions and more than 20 ex­clu­sive shore tours on New Zealand’s North Is­land.

The new prod­uct added to the cruise line’s Lo­cal Con­nec­tions ini­tia­tive har­nesses the knowl­edge and skills of lo­cal New Zealand ex­perts across ev­ery port in the coun­try.

“It is the lo­cal chefs, bev­er­age-mak­ers and ar­ti­sans who will bring a des­ti­na­tion to life in their own unique way,” said Princess Cruises se­nior vice pres­i­dent Asia Pa­cific Stu­art Al­li­son.

“The ex­pan­sion of the suc­cess­ful global Lo­cal Con­nec­tions Pro­gram in New Zealand demon­strates... how the ben­e­fit of cruise tourism can be felt well be­yond the ports our ships visit,” he added.

High­lights of the new prod­uct in­clude an over­land ex­cur­sion to Great Bar­rier Is­land for a stargaz­ing ex­pe­ri­ence and a for­est jour­ney near the port of Tau­ranga to eat tra­di­tional bush food with cel­e­brated Maori chef Eru Tu­taki.
