On board Queen Eleganza
Today’s issue of CW is coming to you courtesy of APT, aboard the new MV Queen Eleganza which will cruise the Croatian coast from next year.
THE Queen Eleganza is visiting the quaint Croatian island of Vis this evening, the most remote of the country’s inhabited islands with a population of just a few thousand people.
Compared to other Croatian ports which have seen a boom in popularity, Vis has seen less development because until 1989 it was a military base meaning few ordinary citizens were able to live here.
That is all changing now, with Vis likely to see an influx of interest due to the movie sequel to Mamma Mia being filmed here last year.
Our arrival in Vis today follows an overnight at the island of Korcula, where after a city tour Eleganza’s passengers dispersed to enjoy the destination’s wide array of restaurants and wine bars.
This morning a special delight was a swim in the crystal clear Adriatic off the back of the ship, along with a thrilling Zodiac ride courtesy of the
Queen Eleganza’s owner and long-term APT partner Marko Mandic ( pictured) who took the opportunity to showcase some of the local settlements. Eleganza cruises onward to Hvar, Krka National Park and Zadar before the trip ends in Opatija and a transfer to Zagreb.
