WA com­mits to cruise in­dus­try

WEST Aus­tralian Tourism Min­is­ter Paul Pa­palia last night pledged his strong sup­port for the grow­ing WA cruise sec­tor.

Speak­ing at the open­ing event of the Aus­tralian Cruise As­so­ci­a­tion Con­fer­ence in Broome, Pa­palia said he was “ab­so­lutely com­mit­ted to grow­ing our tourism sec­tor through sup­port­ing the cruis­ing in­dus­try”.

Port de­vel­op­ment ini­tia­tives in­clude dredg­ing of Broome Har­bour plus work at Ger­ald­ton, Fre­man­tle and other des­ti­na­tions to make them more cruise-friendly.

“The en­tire govern­ment is be­hind mak­ing sure cruise ships have pri­or­ity when it comes to ac­cess­ing re­gional ports,” he said.
