Celebrity dou­bles down on Aus­tralia

CELEBRITY Cruises will soon dou­ble ca­pac­ity in Aus­tralia with the an­nounce­ment the cruise line will be de­ploy­ing Celebrity Eclipse to ser­vice the lo­cal mar­ket in 2020/21.

The 2,850-pas­sen­ger Eclipse will home­port in Melbourne from 23 Dec 2020, where she will ar­rive fresh from a multi-mil­lion dol­lar re­fur­bish­ment.

Be­fore sailing into Melbourne, Eclipse will head to Syd­ney on 08 Dec 2020 to sail a two-night sam­pler voy­age, be­fore de­part­ing on a 13-night cruise via New Zealand to her new Aussie base.

Celebrity Solstice will con­tinue to cruise out of Syd­ney af­ter Eclipse ar­rives, mean­ing Celebrity will have two ships op­er­at­ing in Aus­tralia si­mul­ta­ne­ously, sig­nif­i­cantly ramp­ing up its com­mit­ment lo­cally.

“2020 will be a sea­son of firsts for our Celebrity Cruises in Aus­tralia,” said Royal Caribbean Cruises Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor Aus­tralia and NZ Su­san Bon­ner.

“It will be the first time we base two Solstice-class ships here, the first time we home­port out of Melbourne,” she added.

Eclipse will of­fer seven round- trip voy­ages of 8-14 nights in du­ra­tion ex Melbourne to the South Pa­cific, New Zealand, Queens­land, Tas­ma­nia and South Aus­tralia.

The full pro­gram for the two ships will go on sale 07 Nov.
