ACA Goes Global
ACA’S network has expanded again with the recent signing of an MOU with the Global Port Network. This comes on the back of previous similar agreements with New Zealand Cruise Association and CLIA Australasia all of which help us to expand our knowledge and identify collaboration opportunities.
The Global Port Network first met two years ago and is made up of port and destination associations such as Cruise Baltic, Cruise Britain, Cruise Europe, Cruise Norway and Med-Cruise.
Its mission is to work collectively and collaboratively to share information and experiences which will help regions like ours to deliver best practice and mutually successful outcomes.
ACA Chairman, Grant Gilfillan, and I attended the last meeting in Florida during Seatrade where discussions centred around critical industry issues such as the environment and sustainability, infrastructure investments and economic benefit.
The issue of visitor dispersal was also raised with all groups sharing their experiences and raising potential solutions for future consideration.
As Australia is growing in recognition as an important destination on international itineraries, it is beholden upon us to consider our role in the global arena and to not only learn from other best practices but also to share our knowledge so we can make sure that we can work together as an industry to make a positive difference for future travellers.
