Cruis­ing “cheaper than back­pack­ing”: TID

TRAVEL in­sur­ance com­pany Travel In­sur­ance Di­rect (TID) has re­leased re­sults of a study into the gap year plans and des­ti­na­tions of Aus­tralians in the 18-24 de­mo­graphic, sug­gest­ing that back­pack­ers could ben­e­fit by spend­ing their money on a cruise.

The re­port, which com­pared a series of des­ti­na­tions with their cruis­ing route equiv­a­lent, noted that back­pack­ers “could save up to 37% by go­ing on a cruise”.

The re­port showed trav­ellers could save ap­prox $685 on a eight-night roundtrip to Fiji by opting for a cruise rather than a back­pack­ing hol­i­day, and as much as $439 for a 14-night trip to south east Asia, start­ing in Singapore and in­clud­ing Bali - more HERE.
