Scenic Eclipse New York christening

-

SCENIC Luxury Cruises and Tours this morning marked a momentous milestone, with the formal christening of its highly anticipated Scenic Eclipse by actress Helen Mirren.

The “World’s First Discovery Yacht” was named at Pier 88 in New York’s Manhattan Cruise Terminal, with Scenic Chairman and Founder, Glen Moroney saying he was delighted to share the vision, passion and dedication of the Scenic team that had “created an experience which has set a brand new benchmark in discovery cruising”.

The event was attended by more than 350 global media along with key travel agent partners including several top sellers from Australia.

“I was thrilled to be invited to take on the role of Scenic Eclipse godmother, even more so now that I have stepped aboard and seen the level of design detail and technology that have gone into her creation,” Mirren enthused.

“She is an exceptional cruising experience, and I’m honoured to have christened her,” she added.

The ship offers 114 all-verandah suites, two six-guest helicopters and the Scenic Neptune submarine which can travel to depths of almost 200m.

Guests will now journey north to Halifax where CW will join the ship for an exclusive report.

Pictured at the event are Helen Mirren, Scenic co-owners Glen and Karen Moroney, and Captain James Griffiths.
