Unconventionally Simple

As we work in increasingly agile and flexible ways, and in many types of environments, we need seating that offers a high level of comfort with a low level of fuss. It was on this basis that Vitra and Konstantin Grcic developed Rookie – a small and – by office standards – unconventionally simple chair. Says Grcic, “Rookie is all about flexibility and change. Its design aesthetic symbolises that magic moment when something new is beginning, but everything is still up in the air.” Launched at Orgatec 2018, Rookie offers comfort without the need to fiddle with complex levers and knobs. Its spring-mounted swivel seat is height adjustable (as is the back rest, which has a slight flex), and an invisible joint at the front edge of the seat ensures the thighs slope down comfortably when the sitter works in a forwardleaning position. A wide range of colours is available for the upholstery.
