A Slow Reveal

Part of a former textile factory known as Chunming Slub Mill, the building was still being used as artists’ studios when Linehouse began the renovation. It wasn’t until the stripping back of the interior’s many layers to reveal original patinas and materials that the designers’ vision for how to reactivate the space became clear. And in removing an existing mezzanine level, they were able to realise their stacked teahouse concept within an unobstructed double-height space that maximised the clerestory windows.
