Strategies For Sustainability And Resilience
Associate Professor Hwang describes her work as creating landscapes of “intended wildness.” In her view, the practice of rewilding “is not an irresponsible approach that means simply halting maintenance and letting all unwanted plants grow,” but rather the result of “strategic and intended design actions, careful manipulation and selective maintenance intervention.” When successful, these actions can “optimise the socio-ecological benefits of urban landscapes, contributing towards a sustainable and resilient city.”
