Perfectly Balanced

-

A few precise lines define and compose the self-balancing Bird table lamp by Bernhard Osann for Nemo. “The lamp was born from the bold attempt to overcome the laws of nature. It almost seems as if this succeeded. It balances at the limits of the impossible, like a bird,” says Osann. The extruded aluminium arm of the LED lamp rests on a T-shaped polymer support at the table’s edge. It is counterbalanced by a vertical brass counterweight. “While the vertical element keeps the balance, the horizontal element emits the light,” explains Osann. The lamp oscillates and moves, but always returns to the horizontal position. The LED module in the arm rotates around its own axis, ensuring the consistency of the illumination. There’s no need to touch the lamp after positioning it, as switching on and dimming is taken care of by a proximity sensor. In Singapore, Nemo is available from P5 and Proof Living.
