Chair As Body
Cubes Grafunkt
The NUPRI collection from Japanese brand Conde House was developed with the perception of the chair as an extension of the body. With that point of view, paramount for designer Toshiyuki Kita was a sense of balance and wellbeing for the sitter. The NUPRI dining armchair was designed to support the body comfortably with a flowing frame of Japanese oak refined through artisanal production techniques. Kita took inspiration from the everyday objects of traditional Japanese culture and, in particular, the ancient indigenous Ainu population. The Ainu has always lived in symbiosis with nature, producing wooden objects and furniture with simple and essential shapes, but always with attention to the person’s balance and wellbeing. In Singapore, Conde House is available from Grafunkt.
