dhb AERON LAB ULTRALIGHT

-

dhb’s Aeron Lab Ultralight range is designed for hot days in the mountains, so will excel at races like the fabled 200km Gran Fondo Quebrantahuesos in Spain, which averages well into the 30s. Durability, breathability and top-end performance are hallmarks of the Aeron LAB Ultralight jersey thanks to a plethora of features that cater for the sportive rider. These include intelligent application of three types of mesh to increase breathability where needed (chest and back) while adding greater robustness at your moving parts – namely beneath your arms – and ensuring pockets remain stable. The Aeron LAB Ultralight bib shorts are also a lightweight, breathable construction highlighted by the mesh straps that add comfort and keep the air flowing but are durable enough to cope with the toughest sportive challenge. Throw in the neat integrated gripper that guarantees your shorts stay in place when you put down the power and you have one impressive pair of bibs. Ultimately, keeping cool is key to the Ultralight range and you can see why. Raised core temperature leads to fatigue, a drop in power output and reduced performance. It’s bad enough for the professionals but arguably it’s worse for recreational riders. Why? Take L’Etape du Tour as an example. In 2017, the organisers chose the 178km parcours from Briancon to Izoard featuring 3,529m climbing. Frenchman Warren Barguil won in 4:40:33. The amateur version 24 hours earlier saw the final finisher reach the summit of Izoard in 13:02:32, which is nearly three times as long. That’s one hot day in the saddle!
