Fantastic shorts and affordable merino jersey are worth a look

-

RBX Dri-Release Merino jersey £80

The RBX Dri-Release Merino jersey is a classic fit, meaning it’s not too tight or too baggy, conforming to a standard industry size small and fitting our tester’s regular size 10 body well. The arms are short with no irritating silicone or tight hems, and the neckline is high, but really comfortable. The pockets were easily reached, with elastic hems at the top to keep the contents secure. The waterproof zipped pocket was a welcome addition to store a (small) iPhone and cash.

The bright colour and reflective strips on the sides and spine were extremely effective at making us visible on the road. Coupled with the ability for merino to dry quickly and refrain from smelling badly, this would be an ideal jersey for crisp morning commutes. The jersey lost out on full marks by being slightly warmer than the mesh alternatives, and for being thin enough for our underwear to be visible beneath.

RBX Comp Women’s bib shorts £75

The RBX Comp Women’s bib shorts come in sizes XS to XL, in black only. The shorts are a classic fit and our test pair conform to an industry standard small. The hems were a bit loose on our legs, so we’d suggest you try them on in store first. They had great movement and felt very flexible, but were better in the upright position on the hoods rather than in the drops, as most of the attention to padding has been paid to the rear sit bones.

There are two straps that run up either side of the chest with one single strap down the spine. There are two poppers on the single strap that allows you to detach the shorts at the back for toilet breaks, which was very easy to use. The strap was easily accessible after it was detached too.
