What about the components?
Shimano’s seven-speed Tourney forms the heart of the setup, and even its budget kit works really well with crisp, slick and accurate shifting. The geometry is ideal for longdistance journeys, providing a comfortable upright riding position, and there are braze-ons for just about everything. The cantilever brakes are okay without being inspiring. It’s Shimano Tourney again and it works equally well. The Tektro deep-drop brakes have more immediate stopping power than the Flat White’s cantilevers, there’s plenty of clearance for either wider tyres or mudguards, and flattened handlebar tops for comfort. It’s good to see a full line-up of mounts for guards and rear rack for versatility.
