The RW5 features a nylon sole, complete with moulded-in carbon plate, which has some flex but that’s welcome rather than distracting. They weigh 800g in size 45 – similar to shoes plus overshoes – but these are far faster to put on, with a drawcord lace closing the inner shoe and overlapping flaps secured by Velcro. The allover Dryshield membrane, neoprene ankle cuff and comfortable fleecy lining ensure that the RW5s are warm and protective.
